Human Trafficking

January has been recognized as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. It is dedicated to bringing awareness to enslaved individuals and persons who’ve been trafficked, and solemnly continue to be, all over the world.

Many organizations have provided indicators on what to look for when identifying victims. It is recommended that you do not approach a suspected victim or their trafficker, but instead, timely report any signs to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. This can be by calling 1-888-373-7888 or texting “HELP” or “INFO” to 233733 (BEFREE). A tip can also be submitted on www.ice.gov/tips.

It takes collective learning, sharing, working and fighting to stop this scourge on our society.
