Hawk Estates Recovery Dinner

Hawk Estates Recovery Dinner
The Office of Councilwoman Dr. Mayer hosted the Hawk Estates Building II Recovery Dinner for tenants and families affected by the fire early Easter morning. Entities and members of the community immediately unified over the last two weeks to assist financially through fundraisers and donations. The North Segment Property Management, the TAT Social Services Program, Cornerstone Bank, Fort Berthold Housing Authority, KMHA Radiostation, American Legion Post 290, Gunderson Consulting, and the 477 Program were onsite to share information, financial assistance, and/or provide any clothing items and blankets for families. Several donations were made from private donors and individuals. Such donations were shared with families who unfortunately lost everything.

Councilwoman Dr. Mayer acknowledged all of the firefighters, emergency responders, and individuals who were instrumental in controlling the fire and providing emergency help to affected individuals. “The most important thing is we are all here together and sharing in a meal together…we are thankful no lives were lost…material things can be replaced…lives cannot be replaced…”

Councilwoman Dr. Mayer expressed her gratitude to Nathaniel Mayer, North Segment Chief of Staff, who has worked around the clock assisting in recovery efforts and opportunities for families.

Father Roger Synek of the Catholic Church offered words of support and blessed the catered TDH meal served to the families by North Segment Staff. “Please remain where you’re at…this evening is for you,” explained Councilwoman Dr. Mayer, “We are so thankful for our community coming together so quickly…it could have been worse…the good Lord was watching over all of us.”
